Chosen predictions have been made for NCAA Men’s Basketball

In the beginning of November, experts have started making predictions for the NCAA men’s basketball final four as well as the championship. A lot of the experts have similar teams in the predictions in their final four. The common teams include Michigan State, University of Kentucky, and University of Florida. Four out of the five experts have chosen Michigan State to win the national championship. Ideally, Cassius Winston will carry MSU to a Big Ten title. Hopefully Cassius Winston will stay healthy therefore this will happen. A lot of the experts don’t have high hopes for Duke because of how they lost one of their star player, Zion Williamson, to the NBA.

Ohio State Football Remains Undefeated

On November 23rd, Ohio State beat Penn State to keep their winning streak alive. Currently, Ohio State is 11-0. Due to the game against Oregon, Ohio State has knocked Oregon out of the top 10. Right now in major college football, there are three teams that remain undefeated out of 130 teams. The next game is taking place at Michigan on November 30th at 12:00. If Ohio State wins it’ll be the eighth straight year that they have beaten Michigan. If Michigan loses this game, there is a still a chance for them to get a playoff spot. Ohio State has already clinched a big ten east spot. This could be a difficult game for Ohio State since it’s a home game for Michigan. Also along with it being a home game for Michigan, Michigan also has one of the best defenses in the nation.

Golden State Warriors having the worst record in the NBA

With key player, Stephen Curry, out with a broken hand, the Warriors have been suffering this year with their record. Stephen Curry plans to be out for at least 3 months, which will require surgery. In addition to Curry being out with an injury, Paschall is out with a hip contusion. Right now, the Golden State Warriors have the worst record in the NBA being 3-12. There are a lot of games left to play but not having the team’s best players could hurt them in the end. They are also placed 5th in the Pacific Division. The Warriors have been in the last 5 NBA Finals but this year isn’t looking too promising. Which in a sense could be good since it’ll give other teams a chance to win the NBA Finals.

Sport Gambling

As of November 2019, there are 13 out of the 50 states in the United States have legalized sports gambling. Sport gambling biggest customer are younger males.The NFL is the league that has the most sports betting. It seems as if the most popular way of sport gambling is to do it through smartphones. According to holmesreport, “In September 84% of bets in New Jersey were placed through a smartphone.” Advertising is one of the challenges along with sport gambling due to the fact that not in all states it has become legal. In the future, it seems as if sports betting is going to have a huge impact and be a big business. 

Myles Garrett Suspended

On Thursday, November 17th at the Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cleveland Browns game there was a brawl between Mason Rudolph and Myles Garrett. During this fight, Myles Garrett took off Rudolph’s helmet and whacked Mason Rudolph in the head with it. In addition to Garrett getting suspended, he also received a fine of $45,623. Rudolph didn’t get suspended but he did have to pay a fine of $50,000. Garrett accused Rudolph of using a racial slur. There was no evidence of Rudolph actually doing this therefore he didn’t get suspended but did have to pay the fine. According to the NFL, Garrett could come back as early as Week 1 of next season.

Slippery Rock Men’s Football Winning PSAC Championship

In addition to the Slippery Rock women’s soccer team winning a PSAC Championship title, the Slippery Rock men’s football team also won the PSAC Championship. The football won a close game of 37-35 against Kutztown University. Slippery Rock didn’t have a lead the whole game until the last seconds of the game. Charles Snorweah score an 8-yard touchdown with 25 seconds left. The MVP of the game was Slippery Rock’s quarterback, Roland Rivers, who had 302 yards. The next game of Slippery Rock will be held at Slippery Rock on November 30th against either Indiana University of Pennsylvania or Shepherd University.

Slippery Rock Women’s Soccer Winning PSAC Championship

On Sunday, November 17th Slippery Rock women’s soccer team won the PSAC Championship against Edinboro. They won the game 2-1. Since Slippery Rock won the PSAC Championship, they have received the automatic bid to play in the NCAA Division II Championship. In addition to receiving the automatic bid, Slippery Rock also received a by for the first round, and will be competing in the second round against West Chester University or Concord University. The West Chester vs Concord game will be held on Thursday, November 21st at 1:00. This game will be taking place on Saturday, November 23rd at 1:00 at James Egli Field.
